Megan has been working extra hard all summer to become the star member of her swim team. This season, she was given the prestigious position of anchoring the team’s 800m relay. With Megan’s times, her team was winning every meet and even looking at a possible making the Olympics.
They were doing so well, actually, some rather unsavory characters had started betting on the team’s meets. By the time they were up against their cross-town rivals, they were heavily favored to win. The odds were going off at 20-1.
Just before the last race, Megan got an urgent message to meet her coach in the locker room. When she arrived, what she found was something different. The mob was now betting on the other team to win and the only way to guarantee success was to make sure Megan never made it to the race.
All Megan can do is listen as her team is defeated without her as the crowd cheers and the mobsters obtain their big pay day….
